Trinity Coronavirus Update

11.17.20 | News, Church

    Dear Trinity Family,

We are all navigating a fine line between being engaged in the necessary activities of life (work, family, church, school, etc.), protecting civil liberties, being mindful of the public health risks during the pandemic, and following Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor as yourself.”  This isn’t always easy and at times there are competing interests.

With this in mind; due to the recent surge in Covid cases in our county, and the impact it has on our congregation, community, and the health care system Trinity is going to temporarily suspend most of its in-person activity. Here are the specifics.

Worship: We will continue to offer both online and in-person worship.  We will have thanksgiving Worship on Thanksgiving Day at 10 a.m. (in-person and livestream) We will also continue to offer our scheduled services of Holy Communion.  (Word and Sacrament are essential services.)

Non-Trinity Sponsored Groups: We will be temporarily cancelling all “Non-Trinity Sponsored” groups beginning immediately. If you are uncertain whether this includes your group please, contact the church office at 586-463-2921. They may resume the week of Dec. 6. unless otherwise notified.

Trinity Ministry Groups/Activities: We will be temporarily cancelling all live/in-in person Trinity groups and activities beginning immediately. I encourage you to meet virtually, or to re-schedule, if possible. This includes but is not limited to: GriefShare, adult Bible study groups, and junior high and high school youth meetings. These groups and activities may resume the week of Dec. 6 unless otherwise notified. If you are uncertain if your group or activity is meeting please, call the church office at (586-463-2921).

Unfortunately, we will also be cancelling the lunch reception part of Sue von Fange’s retirement recognition. We will recognize Sue, however, during our 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services this Sunday, Nov. 22 and there will be an opportunity to greet Sue after each service in the foyer.

Here are a few necessary exceptions to our temporary shutdown.

    • Trinity School and Early Childhood Center will continue to meet as scheduled.
    • The Lord’s Prayer Confirmation Module (Thursday, Nov. 20) final session.
    • The Red Cross Blood Drive will continue on Monday, Nov. 23.
    • Praise Team Rehearsal will continue to meet on Wednesday evenings.

Our goal is to resume regularly scheduled events the week of Dec. 6. Thank you for your patience. I apologize for any inconvenience. If you have comments or questions, you are welcome to contact me at 586-463-2921  ext. 105 or  .

Along with being prayerful in the midst of this challenging time, I suggest we take to heart the words of Jesus in Philippians 2:3-4:

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

    Blessings and Peace,

    Pastor Ken
