Mother's Day painting event takes a new twist

May 13, 2021

Each year, the Early Childhood Center invites moms and dads to special activities throughout the year. This year, to keep everyone safe from COVID-19, allow for distancing and make sure we have time to sanitize the building every day, we have canceled most of our events. However, the annual Mother's Day event continue, just in a virtual format!

To create a special activity for preschool students and their moms, the Early Childhood Center created paint kits, including paints, brushes, aprons, canvases and even newspaper to cover the table--everything the kids and their moms would need to pain a spring meadow masterpiece. There was even a snack!

The kids and their moms logged into the class and got step-by-step instructions for creating a meadow painting for their moms. Once they were done with the painting process, they were able to eat their snack while the teacher read a story.

"This was a fun event for our moms and our kids, even though we weren't able to have them in the building. We know the families enjoyed the activities and the kids created beautiful masterpieces for their moms," said Karen Pitters, director of the Early Childhood Center.
