What’s Happening at Trinity—April 2, 2023

PANCAKE BREAKFAST RETURNS— Kiwanis and Boy Scout Troop 157 28th annual Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast is today from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the gym. Pancakes, eggs, sausage available. Adults are $10 and children under 12 are $6.

SAVE THE DATE—Pastor Ken’s Retirement Service is Sunday, June 11 at 10 a.m. Please note there will only be one service this day. After the church service there will be a retirement celebration at Youngblood Vineyard and Winery (in Ray, MI) at 1 p.m.. Stay tuned for celebration details.

Holy Week and Easter Services

Trinity offers a number of services as we lead up to Easter Sunday. For more information on our Lent activities or our Holy Week or Easter services, visit Trinityct.org/Easter.

  • Palm Sunday Weekend - (April 1/2) Saturday, 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. 
  • Maundy Thursday - (April 6) 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. - Holy Communion at both services. Both services will be livestreamed.
  • Good Friday - (April 7) 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Both services will be available via Livestream
  • Easter Sunday - (April 9) 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Our 9 a.m. service will include organ, brass and traditional hymns and the 11 a.m. service will be lead by our praise team. Both services are available via Livestream. There will be no Children’s Church on Easter Sunday.
  • There will be NO SATURDAY WORSHIP on April 8.

POST-EASTER SERMON SERIES—”Christ is Risen! Now What?” Join us as the Apostle Peter helps us to see some of the implications of Christ’s Resurrection.

MIDWEEK WORSHIP—Each Wednesday throughout Lent, Trinity hosts a midweek, midday devotion at noon the Chapel.

CROSSTALK AUDIO DEVOTIONS will be available during the season of Lent. These 5 minute devotions are sent directly into your email inbox each day. If you’d like to be included and have not received Crosstalk in the past, go to Trinityct.org/crosstalk to sign up. You can also find these devotions on iTunes or Google Play. BAPTISM CLASSES—If you are interested in baptism at Trinity, Pastor Jeremy has scheduled several virtual baptism class—April 13, June 19, Aug. 7 all at 6:30 p.m. We talk about what baptism is, how we do it, why we do it, our role, your role and how this all plays out in the “real life” of your home. NO E3 THIS WEEK—E3 will not be held this Wednesday, April 5 but will resume on Wednesday, April 12. We will continue E3 through Wednesday, May 2. CALLING ALL WIDOWS— We are starting a group for ALL widows at Trinity beginning on Thursday, April 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the Church Lounge. Meet new friends and enjoy fellowship by joining others for lunch, matinees, field trips, etc., while giving each other support. Come see what it’s all about. Margaret Hoft will be our guest, speaking about the Widow’s Group at St. John’s Fraser and how meaningful it has been for her and others. GOLF LEAGUE OPENINGS—Trinity Lutheran Golf League still has openings for Monday evening golf at Golden Hawk Golf Course. We start April 17 and run through Aug. 28, not including holiday Mondays. Contact Manny Delitala at 586-321-6207, call or text.

MEIJER SIMPLY GIVE IS BACK!—Trinity’s Food Pantry is getting a helping hand from Meijer! Through the Meijer Simply Give program, we can get a little help from you and Meijer. From April 2-July 1, purchase the specially-marked Simply Give donations cards from the check-out lines at the store on Groesbeck and those gift cards will be given to Trinity’s Food Pantry, to help us purchase food and other eligible items. In addition, Meijer will match the gifts donated to Trinity. Trinity’s Double Day is Saturday, June 17. Meijer doubles their donation for each card. On that day, for every $10 Simply Give card purchased on these dates, Meijer provides an additional contribution of $20, bringing the total to $30 for a single customer purchase. HABITAT FUNDRAISING LUNCH—Macomb County Habitat invites you to attend the 2023 Women’s Luncheon, “Women of Courage,” on Wednesday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a good meal at the Italian American Cultural Center and Banquet Center, 43843 Romeo Plank, Clinton Township. Featuring speakers Madeline Bialecki, Patricia Shall, and homeowner Kenyetta Hayman. Tickets are a donation of $50 at ladieslunch.givesmart.com. Support the work of preparing affordable homes for families in Macomb County and be inspired by stories and fellowship.

GOOD SHEPHERD COALITION FUNDRAISER—Help the Good Shepherd Coalition while getting your garden ready to summer. Good Shepherd Coalition has partnered with Deneweth’s Garden Center. Shop at the Macomb or Hartland location of Deneweth’s on May 20-21 and 20 percent of the purchase price will go to Good Shepherd Coalition. SPRING BREAK—The school is on spring break Monday, April 3 through Monday, April 10. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 11. The school office will be close those dates.

SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEER COUNSELORS WANTED—If you know a 6th-12th grade student looking to work with kids, our summer camp has openings for Volunteer Counselors. The VCs assist the cabin leaders. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Those interested must attend a one-hour orientation and training session on Tuesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. in the Youth Lounge. DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE—Girls, grab your dads for the return of Trinity’s Daddy Daughter Dance on Sunday, April 16, 6-9 p.m. at the Italian American Cultural Society Banquet Center. Tickets are $30. Tickets are available foyer on TODAY and mornings in the school lobby through April 14.

RED CROSS THANK YOU—The Red Cross recognizes the efforts of the Trinity community. Your support of the organizations is greatly appreciated and your support of the community blood program will go a long way toward replenishing blood supplies and ultimately saving lives. At the last blood drive, the Trinity community donated 45 units of blood. Thank you for your great work!
