What’s Happening at Trinity—Feb. 5, 2023

TRINITY SCHOOL AND ECC OPEN HOUSE —Trinity school and ECC Admission Open House is today from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tour our classrooms, meet our teachers and staff, experience the campus, learn more about our values and faith foundation, and discover the programs and opportunities that we offer to students and families. For those who want more information about kindergarten, Kindergarten Information Night is Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 6:30-8 p.m. We will meet in the church for a devotion and learn more about the school and kindergarten program. Invite anyone you know who is interested in attending kindergarten at Trinity next year. This event is for parents only. For information, call the school office at 586-468-8511.

VISIT THE SCHOOL—Members of the congregation, you are invited! On Wednesday, Feb. 8, we have a special morning set aside just for you. Meet in the school lobby at 8 a.m. to watch behind-the-scenes of our morning announcements. Afterwards, we will head to the sanctuary where the 7th grade class will be presenting chapel. WE HAVE YOUR WEDNESDAY EVENINGS PLANNED—E3, our Wednesday evening gathering and activities for all ages, continues throughout the spring! Free pizza is served at 6 p.m. followed by the meet ups at 6:30 p.m. There is something for everyone in the family. We have two pastor-led Bible studies, senior high and junior high youth groups, a spot for preteens, a class for preschool through grade 3 and a nursery for babies. CURRENT SERMON SERIES—When God Says “No.” Join us as we explore some of God’s “do nots” which, perhaps surprisingly, reveal His love for us and provide us with a framework for more faithfully following Jesus in the new year.

LENT BEGINS—Trinity will mark the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday worship on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Our Lent preaching series, which begins on Feb. 25/26, is “A demon, a Pharisee, a Samaritan Woman, a blind man and a dead guy walk into . . . . .Jesus.”

SAVE THE DATE—FIRST COMMUNION CLASS—Our First Communion Faith Stepping Stone begins on Tuesday, March 14 and runs March 21 and 28 in the Community Center. This stepping stone is designed for fifth graders and their parents. It will prepare your student for receiving the Lord’s Supper. Students are eligible to participate in the Lord's Supper on March 30, which is Maundy Thursday. At least one parent must attend with your student. Please RSVP at Trinityct.org/firstcommunion. BAPTISM CLASSES—If you are interested in baptism at Trinity, Pastor Jeremy has scheduled several virtual baptism class—Feb. 28, May 2, June 19, Aug. 7 all at 6:30 p.m. We talk about what baptism is, how we do it, why we do it, our role, your role and how this all plays out in the “real life” of your home. CHILDREN’S CHURCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED—Children’s Church occurs during the 11 a.m. worship service for kids ages 4-8 to hear a message that connects with them, while still keeping families together for worship. Two adult volunteers are needed each week to assist with classroom management and activities. If you are interested in helping, go to Trinityct.org/childrenschurch.

>ENGAGE GOD’S PEOPLE

MEL OTT BASEBALL PROGRAM—This year, Trinity will participate in the Mel-Ott Baseball League, playing against other Lutheran churches and schools in the area. The program is open to boys and girls who are school students or church members. There is t-ball for kindergarten and first graders, machine pitch for second and third grade, and kid pitch from fourth-sixth grade. Cost is approximately $175 per child, including a uniform. YOUNG ADULT BOARD GAME NIGHT—Hope Lutheran Church in Warren welcomes young adults 18 and up to a board game night on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. Pizza will be provided. BLOOD DRIVE IN MARCH—Trinity will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Monday, March 20 from 1-7 p.m. in the Community Center. HARP MISSION 2023— The HARP Mission provides adults and youth the opportunity to serve and be served in the way that Christ served us! Join us for a servant event this summer. GET YOUR DINNER DANCE TICKETS! SAVE THE DATE—The Dinner Dance is Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Italian American Cultural Society. Tickets are $50 each and are available from any eighth grade family. The event is the fundraiser for the class trip to New York City. There will be plenty of raffle and auction items available. Tickets on sale in the church foyer today.

SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEER COUNSELORS WANTED—If you know a 7th12th grade student looking for an opportunity to work with kids, our summer camp has openings for Volunteer Counselors. The VCs help with activities and assist the cabin leaders. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. All those interested in the VC positions must attend one of the one-hour mandatory orientation and training sessions on Sunday, March 19 at 12:15 p.m. or Tuesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. in the Youth Lounge. A parent must be present for the last 10 minutes of the training.
