Lent Week 2

February 26, 2024

Welcome to our third post on Lent!

Below you'll find the resources and tools that we have compiled for your family to use. This week we focus on Mark 14:32-42, which reads:

Gethsemane

32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”3Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[a] Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” 37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him. 41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

Monday

Tuesday

On Tuesdays, we encourage your family to have a discussion. Today's focuses on sin.

Sin gets us in trouble. It makes us forget about God and what he wants us to do. But thankfully, Jesus came to forgive our sins! Have you ever gone the wrong way. What happened and who helped you find your way?

Wednesday

Come out to E3 tonight! E3 is open to everyone. We have FREE dinner at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria, followed by our group meet ups at 6:30 p.m. We have a Lenten Bible study for adults, youth group for middle school and high school, a preteen group, an elementary school group and a nursery for the babies. Even if you have never attended before, we invite you to join us this week.

Thursday

Have you started the Easter Bingo yet? Today is a great day to mark some of those off the list. . If you fill the entire sheet, bring it to Ms. Elizabeth for a special prize.

Friday

Prayer is important. We know Jesus prayed and he taught the disciples to pray. We have designed prayers to fit the theme of the week. There is a printable sheet of all the prayers in the sidebar of the Children and Family Lent Resources page. We will also post them here each week.

Dear God, I know that I make mistakes. I am not perfect. I come to You with all the wrong things I have done. Please wipe all my sin away and make me more like Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.
