What’s Happening at Trinity—April 21, 2024

E3 UPDATES—Our E3 session will come to an end on Wednesday, May 1. This means there will be no elementary, preteen or adult groups meeting after May 1. However, the Life with Jesus class will continue to meet through May 22. The nursery is available for those who need it. Also, the Youth with continue to meet throughout the summer.

IT’S TIME TO THINK ABOUT PRESCHOOL—Trinity's Early Childhood Center is now enrolling for the traditional half-day three and four-year-old preschool program and in the FREE Great Start Readiness Program for this fall. This program is free to four-year-olds who qualify. Find out more on either program at Trinity’s website at Trinityct.org/ECC.

CAMP COUNSELORS NEEDED—Summer Camp Counselors work in pairs with up to 20 children and a volunteer counselor assistant to lead kids through their days. FLOWER SALES FOR WOMEN’S LEAGUE—Spring has sprung! It’s time for flowers! Get your flowers at Deneweth’s on Saturday, May 4 or Sunday, May 5 and tell the sales clerk you support Trinity Women’s League and Deneweth’s will donate 20% of your purchase to the Women’s League. Plus you can buy a gift card for Mother’s Day or for getting more flowers at a later date. Remember you can only buy a gift card, not use a previously purchased gift card to get the 20% donation. Plan your flower garden now.

LWML SPRING FLING APRIL 25—The Lutheran Women’s Mission League Macomb South Zone will host a spring meeting at St. Peter Eastpointe on Thursday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. All women are invited to attend. Come for food, fellowship and fun while socializing with other women from area churches and also discussion plans for the LWML Zone. There is a $7 registration fee payable at the door. The speaker for the evening is a representative from Motown Soup. (Continued)

THANK YOU from Trinity’s Women’s League, to all those who supported our recent Texas Roadhouse fundraiser. Including bake sale proceeds, donations, and 10% of dinner (food only) sales, we raised a total of $1,501 to be donated to missions and local nonprofits. Once again, our Trinity family came through for us, so that we can share God’s love and blessings with those in need.

>ENGAGE THE WORLD 

NEED FOR SOLAR ECLIPSE GLASSES—Do you have glasses from our total eclipse? Students and others in rural areas of South America and the Pacific Islands can re-use them for such an event this October. Clinton Township is collecting pairs in good condition to ship to Eclipse Glasses USA. Throughout April, place your glasses in the box near the Welcome Center and they will be donated accordingly.

MEIJER SIMPLY GIVE IS BACK!—Trinity’s Food Pantry is getting a helping hand from Meijer! Now through June, purchase the specially-marked Simply Give donations cards from the check-out lines at the store on Groesbeck and those gift cards will be given to Trinity’s Food Pantry to help us purchase food and other eligible items. Meijer matches the gifts donated to Trinity. Trinity’s Double Day is Saturday, June 15. On that day, for every $10 Simply Give card purchased on these dates, Meijer contributes $20, bringing the total to $30. For more information, contact Pastor Gary at or call 586-463-2921.

FAMILY OF GOD DINNERS-Trinity provides meals/casseroles for Family of God in Detroit once a month. Volunteers are needed to help donate a dish. If you’d like to contribute financially, leave your donation in the Church Office or Venmo Cathy Essig (@CLEssig). SCHOOL NEEDS THRIVENT CARDS AND DONATIONS-The school walkathon is coming up in May. The office is organizing the food and drinks distributed to the walkers, as well at prizes for the top fundraises. ECC IS HIRING—Trinity’s Early Childhood Center is seeking a warm, caring person who loves working with young children to join our Trinity teaching team! We need full-time and part-time childcare assistants working with children ages 6 weeks to 4-years-old. CONGRATULATIONS to Thomas Phillips, a senior at Lutheran North who is part of the Class of 2024 valedictorians. Thomas is a Trinity graduate and active member of the congregation. Thomas, along with four of his classmates earned the title of valedictorian. Congratulations Thomas! We continue to pray for Thomas and all of our 2024 graduates as they take a step in their lives.

LUTHERAN FRATERNITIES OF AMERICA CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT—Join the LFA #57 for a cornhole tournament on Saturday, May 18 from 5-9 p.m. at the LFA hall in Eastpointe. Besides the tournament, there will be food, beverages, cards and board games. Food, pop and water are provided. A $5 wristband is available for beer and wine. LUTHERAN CHORALAIRES SPRING CONCERT SUPPORTS CUAA—The Lutheran Choralaires, a men's chorus presents their annual Spring Concert entitled “What Wondrous Love is This" on Saturday May 18, 4 p.m. at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154). Tickets are not necessary, however there will be a freewill offering. All proceeds will go to support the Concordia University Ann Arbor Music Department and Students In Need funds. LHN GOLF OUTING-The 43rd annual Mustang Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cracklewood Golf Club. The cost is $120 per golfer and it includes 18 holes of scramble golf with cart, unlimited refreshments on the course, lunch and the turn, steak dinner at the finish, contests for longest drive, closest to the line and putting, Dr. Kipp trophy for the lowest team school, Christian fellowship and fun.
