What’s Happening at Trinity—Jan. 22, 2023

NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK—This week, our school and Early Childhood Center celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week. This is our opportunity to celebrate the gift of Lutheran schools and the students, teachers and families that make them such a great place to learn and grow. Trinity also wants to use the opportunity to say THANK YOU to the congregation for investing in our school. This year, the national theme for Lutheran school’s week is Making Disciples for Life and is based on Matthew 28:18-20, Trinity will be celebrating Lutheran schools all week long with special activities, theme dress days and even a talent show. CURRENT SERMON SERIES—When God Says “No.” Join us as we explore some of God’s “do nots” which, perhaps surprisingly, reveal His love for us and provide us with a framework for more faithfully following Jesus in the new year.

WE HAVE YOUR WEDNESDAY EVENINGS PLANNED—E3, our Wednesday evening gathering and activities for all ages, continues throughout the spring! Free pizza is served at 6 p.m. followed by the meet ups at 6:30 p.m. There is something for everyone in the family. We have two pastor-led Bible studies, senior high and junior high youth groups, a spot for preteens, a class for preschool through grade 3 and a nursery for babies. FIRST GRADE FIRST BIBLE-If you are the parent of a first grade, or other elementary school student who hasn’t participated in the First Bible Stepping Stone, a new session starts TOMORROW. Join Miss Elizabeth on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Community Center. These meetings are for parents and kids. Come learn about the Bible and what you can do at home to encourage your child’s faith development. BAPTISM CLASSES—If you are interested in baptism at Trinity, Pastor Jeremy has scheduled several virtual baptism class—Jan. 23, Feb. 28, May 2, June 19, Aug. 7 all at 6:30 p.m. We talk about what baptism is, how we do it, why we do it, our role, your role and how this all plays out in the “real life” of your home. CHILDREN’S CHURCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED—Children’s Church occurs during the 11 a.m. worship service for kids ages 4-8 to hear a message that connects with them, while still keeping families together for worship. >ENGAGE GOD’S PEOPLE

MEL OTT BASEBALL PROGRAM—This year, Trinity will participate in the Mel-Ott Baseball League, playing against other Lutheran churches and schools in the area. The program is open to boys and girls who are school students or church members. There is t-ball for kindergarten and first graders, machine pitch for second and third grade, and kid pitch from fourth-sixth grade. The season runs early April through the end of the school year. JOIN THE HEARING LOSS GROUP—The Hearing Loss Association of America-Macomb Chapter, meets at Trinity on the fourth Thursday of each month, September through June. The group is open to adults with hearing loss. Meet others with hearing loss who understand the difficulties of communication.

Family and friends are welcome. The group features presenters in the field of hearing impairment with information on audiology or assistive equipment available. Other meetings are of general interest. On Thursday, Jan. 26, the group will celebrate its 18th anniversary and watch the movie “Dear Frankie,” about a deaf boy in Scotland. HELP MACOMB HABITAT finish a home in Clinton Township–Volunteers are needed to complete a new build at 42577 LaCroix (south of Joy Blvd., off N. Walnut) in Clinton Township over the next few weeks. A family is ready to purchase and move in. Great chance to learn new skills, age 17 on up. Some paint, laminate flooring, ceramic tile, and other finish work. VISIT THE SCHOOL—Members of the congregation, you are invited! On Wednesday, Feb. 8, we have a special morning set aside just for you. Meet in the school lobby at 8 a.m. to watch behind-the-scenes of our morning announcements. Afterwards, we will head to the sanctuary where the 7th grade class will be presenting chapel. KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION NIGHT is Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. We will meet in the church for a devotion and learn more about the school and kindergarten program. GET YOUR DINNER DANCE TICKETS! SAVE THE DATE—The Dinner Dance is Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Italian American Cultural Society. Tickets are $50 each and are available from any eighth grade family. The event is the fundraiser for the class trip to New York City. There will be plenty of raffle and auction items available. Tickets on sale in the church foyer on Jan. 22, 29 and Feb. 5.
