What’s Happening at Trinity—Dec. 21, 2025

NO SATURDAY WORSHIP ON DEC. 27—Just a reminder, there is no Saturday evening worship service on Saturday, Dec. 27. Worship will be held as regularly scheduled at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28.

YOUTH CHRISTMAS PARTY—Trinity’s Youth Group is having a Christmas party and kids in grade 6-12 are invited! On Sunday, Dec. 21 from 5-6 p.m. in the Youth Lounge, there will be food, fun and games! Students are invited to bring a $10 gift to exchange. For more information, contact the Church Office at 586-463-2921.

SERVICE TIME CHANGE—Beginning Jan. 11, our Sunday morning service times will change. Our early service will begin at 8:30 a.m., offering a full hour between services for Sunday school, Bible studies and more. There is no change to the late service, which will continue at 11 a.m.

WORSHIP NOTES—This week in “The King is Coming” series, we focus on the presence of Jesus through the names given to Him in Matthew 1:18–25. Jesus—“the Lord saves”—reveals what He comes to do, while Immanuel—“God with us”—reveals how He comes to do it: by drawing near. Together, these names remind us that the coming King is not distant or detached, but present with His people, saving us from sin and walking with us in the midst of our lives. The readings for this week are Isaiah 7:10-17, Romans 1:1-7, and Matthew 1:18-25.

MONDAY NIGHT LADIES BIBLE STUDY—Ladies Bible Study meets on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Lounge and resumes meeting after the holidays. All ladies welcome. For information contact Bonnie Young at 586-350-3222.

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY—The Tuesday morning Bible study will not meet on Tuesday, Dec. 23 or Tuesday, Dec. 30. Sessions resume on Jan. 6, 2026. Meet to enjoy God's Word every Tuesday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. Led by Mary Hartman and Lila Tirsell. Meets in the Church Lounge.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY continues on Wednesdays from 6-7 a.m. in the Church Lounge. Start the new year with over twenty Christian brothers for Bible study, conversation, and spiritual growth. Study guides and coffee provided.

NEW MEMBER CLASS—Trinity’s new member classes begin Sunday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. in the Church Lounge. The class is scheduled to run for five weeks, including Christianity 101, baptism classes for all planning to be baptized (or have a child baptized) and First Communion for adults and students in fifth grade and up. BAPTISM CLASS—Trinity’s baptism class for children and adults is now part of our new member class. MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GATHERING—The Michigan District hosts the Michigan High School Youth Gathering on Mackinac Island Sunday, June 28-Wednesday July 1 at Mission Point Resort. Trinity plans to send a group of kids to this unique experience. Students in grades 8-12 are eligible to attend. COFFEE HOUR NEEDS--The Hospitality Committee is looking for Donut Donators for the Coffee Hour counter for December. Slots are available for parent volunteer hours as snack sorters and counter cleaners during Coffee Hour on Sunday mornings. Sign up before slots disappear. FAMILY OF GOD DINNERS—Trinity provides meals to Family of God in Detroit on the second Wednesday of each month. Volunteers are needed to donate a dish. YEAR END GIVING—As we approach the end of the 2025 year gift giving, this is the time many of the congregation evaluate their ability to make special donations of stock or cash gifting. If you are 70 ½ or older you can give from your IRAs Tax-Free to the charities of your choice. This is accomplished via making a QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION (QCD). You don’t have to wait for the end of the year, but this option is available throughout the year. Contact your financial advisor to find out if this would be a good option for you. A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution from your individual retirement account (IRA) to a qualified charity. To make a QCD you must be age 70 1/2 or older. A QCD is not taxed, nor included in your taxable income. At age 73 when your IRA requires minimum distribution (RMD) the qualified charitable distribution can be a portion. An itemized tax return is not required. Speak to your tax advisor.

CHRISTMAS TREE TAKE DOWN—We had plenty of people help set up Trinity’s Christmas trees and place decorations, but now we need a team of people to help pack it away in January. If you have an emergency and need pastoral care outside of these hours, call the Church Office at 586-463-2921 to leave a message on the emergency line. Someone will return your call. The Church Office is closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Dec. 26. The office is also closed on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan.1. If you have business to do in the office, and make sure the staff member you need is available.
