HARP MISSION 2021—  The HARP Mission is to provide adults and youth the opportunity to serve and be served in the way that Christ served us! Due to COVID, we were unable to make our yearly trip to Caldwell, Ohio to serve those in need; however, we WILL BE SERVING THIS YEAR from June 13-18. Please watch our announcements for our annual Stuff the Truck Event in May! We are always looking for people who have it in their heart to help. Contact Chris Kapolka at (586) 415-0710 or Gwen Richard at (440) 309-8255 for more info. Or visit Trinityct.org/HARP.

GOT PENS—Our LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) zone has been asked to donate packages of blue or black ink pens for missions. These pens will be distributed by the Orphan Grain Train following the LWML Michigan Convention. We need as many as we can get! There will be a basket at the Welcome Center during February for any contributions.

TRINITY QUILTERS—THANK YOU to all Trinity members and friends who continue to support Trinity Quilters for Lutheran World Relief. Many fabric squares are available for sewers on the quilt table in the foyer. Pick some up and return when you are done sewing. Your help is appreciated!

SALLY BUSS RETIREMENT—After a long and dedicated career at Trinity Lutheran School, eighth grade teacher Sally Buss has decided to retire at the end of the school year. Plans are underway to honor her in some capacity as we approach the summer. In the meantime, Trinity is looking for an eighth grade teacher beginning with the 2021/22 school year. If you know someone interested in the position, contact Trinity’s interim principal Gordon Kennedy at or call (586) 468-8511.

>ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEED A COVID-19 VACCINE—If you are over 65 years old and live in Macomb County, there is a new program through Smart Bus. Send an email to with your name, date of birth, address and phone number. The organization will contact you when they have a time slot available. If you meet these qualifications and do not have a computer, contact Robin in the church office at (586) 463-2921 ext. 143 and she can assist you.

BLOOD DRIVE IN MARCH—Trinity will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Thursday, March 18 from 1-7 p.m. in the Community Center. Trinity’s drives have continued throughout the pandemic and have been vital to the Red Cross. To sign up, go to RedCrossBlood.org and use code TrinityCT.

DIRECT YOUR CHOICE DOLLARS—Last year, Thrivent members’ Choice Dollars earned Trinity $8,597. Members’ 2020 Choice Dollars need to find a home before the end of March. Designate them to Trinity Lutheran Church, School and ECC. There are two ways two for directing Choice Dollars. Go to Thrivent.com/thriventchoice or call 800-847-4836 and say "Thrivent Choice" at the prompt. Please take a few minutes and designate Trinity. Designations must be made by March 31. Every little bit helps.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS FOR 2020—Previously, charitable contributions could only be deducted if taxpayers itemized their deductions. However, the CARES Act changed that. Taxpayers who don't itemize deductions may take a charitable deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions made in 2020 to Trinity.

† Also taxpayers 70 ½ can make a qualified charitable distribution from their IRA – up to $100,000 – directly to Trinity. It's generally a nontaxable distribution made by the IRA trustee to a charitable organization. A QCD counts toward your minimum distribution requirement for the year.

† You can download your statement at any time by logging into Elexio and clicking on Giving-Statement-Last Calendar year.
