February 06, 2026

What’s Happening at Trinity—Feb. 8, 2026

ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP AND MEAL—Ash Wednesday worship is held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 18. Both services included the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. New this year—Following the 10 a.m. service, Trinity hosts “What would Jesus Eat,” a light meal inspired featuring lentil soup and charcuterie. A soup/salad/sandwich dinner of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches will be available before worship.

HARDT-RATHE MATCHING CHALLENGE! The Hardt-Rathe Scholarship fund was started to assist families who desire a Christian education for their children but needed financial assistance. Through the continued support of the congregation to the Hardt-Rathe Scholarship Fund, Trinity provides an average of $30,000 to support families with tuition needs each year. Thanks to an anonymous donor, we have an opportunity to grow the fund once again this year! During the month of February, any donations to the scholarship fund will be matched up to $5,000. All contributions are tax deductible. Checks can be made payable to Trinity Lutheran Church with the memo line “Hardt-Rathe Fund.” You may also elect Hardt-Rathe as your offering option in Elexio if you give online. For more information, contact Mark Brown at

SERMON FOCUS—When Jesus calls His followers the salt of the earth and the light of the world, He’s speaking to an unlikely and diverse group of people—ordinary, imperfect, and often unsure of themselves. Yet Jesus speaks with confidence about what God’s kingdom makes possible in human lives. This week, we’ll explore what it means to be called salt and light, and why we’re often more comfortable with Jesus shining brightly than believing He can shine through us. The promise of the kingdom is not just that God saves us, but that He sends us into the world bearing His light. Readings for the week: Isaiah 2:1-5,1 Corinthians 2:1–10 and Matthew 5:13–20.
