What’s Happening at Trinity—Jan. 16, 2022

E3 and YOUTH GROUP CONTINUE THIS WEEK—Join us this Wednesday for dinner and our E3 and youth activities. Here is what we have to offer this session.

  • Delight Bible Study-Pastor Ken will lead a study on our current sermon series, Delight.
  • Parables of Jesus-Pastor Gary will lead a study on the parables told by Jesus throughout the New Testament.
  • Youth Group-Our middle and high school students gather for music, activities and small group discussions. Meet in the Youth Lounge.
  • Elementary School-Kids in kindergarten through 5th grade meet in the Mini Gym for activities designed just for them.
  • Preschool-We have special programming for some of our youngest attendees. They will meet in the kindergarten room.
  • Nursery-Take part in the above groups knowing that your youngest children (three and under) are cared for in our Church Nursery.

If you plan to eat with us this week, we need to know you are coming. RSVP at Trinityct.org/E3 and we’ll see you at 6 p.m. If you just want to attend the classes, there is no need to RSVP, we’ll see you at 6:30 p.m.

BAPTISM CLASSES NEXT WEEK—If you are interested in baptism at Trinity, Vicar Jeremy Ashley has baptism sessions coming up to prepare you for the process. You will talk about baptism, how and why we do it, our role, your role and how this all plays out in the “real life” of your home. There is a Zoom session on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. There are also in-person sessions on Monday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. or Tuesday, March 29, at 1:30 p.m. in the Church Lounge. WEEKDAY BIBLE STUDIES AND CLASSES

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY-- Meet to enjoy God's Word every Tuesday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. Led by Mary Hartman and Lila Tirsell. Meetings will be held in the Church Lounge.

>ENGAGE GOD’S PEOPLE

STOCK THE FOOD PANTRY—MEIJER SIMPLY GIVE IS BACK—Trinity’s Food Pantry can get a little help from you and Meijer. From now until April 2, purchase the specially-marked Simply Give donations cards from the check-out lines at the store on Groesbeck and those gift cards will be given to Trinity’s Food Pantry, to help us purchase food and other eligible baby items. In addition, Meijer will match the gifts donated to Trinity. Trinity’s Double Days are Saturday, March 5 and Saturday, March 26. On that day, Meijer doubles their donation for each card. On those days, for every $10 Simply Give card purchased on these dates, Meijer will provide an additional contribution of $20, bringing the total to $30 for a single customer purchase. TRINITY KNITTERS ARE BACK—Do you know about Trinity Purls? It’s a group of knitters that meets on Thursday evenings to knit/crochet prayer shawls. For information, contact Joan Lavey 586-791-5016.

HELP FAMILY OF GOD— Trinity provides meals for our mission, Family of God in Detroit, on the second Wednesday of each month. We need volunteers to provide a casserole/meal. TRINITY LUTHERAN SCHOOL AND ECC OPEN HOUSE—Please invite anyone interested in providing their child with an exceptional Christian education at Trinity to our School and Early Childhood Center Open House on Sunday, Feb. 6 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Families have the opportunity to visit the classrooms, meet with teachers, experience the facilities and learn about the programs that Trinity offers. GOODBYE MRS. KNOPF—After 27 years in faithful service to the families of Trinity School, Mrs. Knopf will officially retire on Feb. 4. She has been a pillar of our school and will be greatly missed! You can wish her well on Sunday, Jan. 30 at the Coffee Hour between services. Mrs. Renee Kment will be joining our Trinity School staff on Tuesday, Jan. 18. We are looking forward to having her in the school office!

GET YOUR DINNER DANCE TICKETS THIS WEEK—Tickets for the 8th grade dinner dance fundraiser will be on sale in the church foyer next Sunday between services and after the 11 a.m. service. The cost of tickets is $50 per person. The dinner dance helps the class raise money for their class trip to St. Louis, Missouri. The dinner dance is Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Italian American Cultural Center from 6-11 p.m. There will silent and live auctions, music, dancing, open bar, whiskey and wine pull, baskets and prizes.
