What’s Happening at Trinity—July 27, 2025

GET YOUR COOKIES—Wellspring hosts a cookie sale today before and after both services. More goodies than you can count! Wellspring supports families and children in need. Freewill donations can also be made at the cookie sale.

NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY BEGINS AUG. 6—A new WOMEN’S Bible study begins on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the Church Lounge. This is a 12-week study with three breaks. The group will study from the book, “Acts: The Spread of the Gospel” by John MacArthur. For more information, contact study leader Linda Gawinski at 586-431-1147.

PARENTS OF RISING 6th GRADERS—You begin the process of confirmation in the fall. A meeting is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Youth Lounge to get you started. You need only to attend once. This program is set up in a series of modules you and your student attend over the course of three years before confirmation. SERMON SERIES—Today we wrap up our series, Colorful Teachings. The passages on which the sermon will focus are Genesis 18:16, 20-33.

UPCOMING SERMON SERIES—The Art of Neighboring begins Aug. 3. Based on the book “The Art of Neighboring: Building Genuine Relationships Right Outside Your Door” by Jay Pathak, Dave Runyon. We are taking a look at opportunities that we have in our everyday lives to make a friend and share the love of Christ through hospitality and kindness.

YOUTH GROUP BIBLE STUDY—The youth (6th-12th grade) group Bible study meets on Sundays between services from 10:10-10:50 a.m. in the Youth Lounge. Be sure to join the youth GroupMe. The QR code for the group is on the door to the Youth Lounge.

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY—Meet to enjoy God's Word every Tuesday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. Led by Mary Hartman and Lila Tirsell. Meets in the Church Lounge.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY– “Lost Books?”— Ever wondered if some ancient texts were intentionally excluded from the Bible and why? Explore the standards used to determine how and why these decisions were made. Join us on Wednesdays at 6 a.m. in the Church Lounge for this video study from Lutheran Hour Ministries, “Men’s Network” (Coffee and study guides provided)

SATURDAY MORNING MEN’S STUDY—A Saturday morning men’s Bible study at 8 a.m. This group meets in the Church Lounge. For more information, contact Brian Lanko at

SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUESTS—We have an online form for submitting those requests. Go to Trinityct.org and click Submit a Prayer Request toward the bottom of the page. Complete the form and it will be sent to the appropriate prayer warriors.

OUTDOOR WORSHIP—Our outdoor services are held on the last Sunday of each month at 11 a.m., weather permitting. Our next outdoor worship service is Aug. 31, the final one of the summer. Join us on the lawn, just off Farmcrest as we praise God outside. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and a Bible!

LIFE WITH JESUS CLASS FORMING FOR FALL—We have had several inquiries for our new member class. We still do not have dates set in stone, but we are targeting near the beginning of the school year. Life with Jesus is for anyone who would like to attend, and is required of those considering membership at Trinity (but does not obligate you to become a member). Sign up through our office or on our website at Trinityct.org/LWJ to be included in future messages about scheduling.

YOUTH GROUP ACTIVITY—Trinity’s Youth Group (which includes students in grades 6-12) is heading to Whirly Ball on Wednesday, July 30 from 6-8 p.m. This event will require pre-registration. Be sure to watch the Group Me from more information as the event get closer. The Group Me QR code and text information are available in the Youth Lounge on the wall.

BLOOD DRIVE SEPT. 4—Trinity hosts an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 1-7 p.m. in the Community Center. The drives at Trinity have been vital to the Red Cross. To sign up, go to RedCrossBlood.org and use code TrinityCT.

FOOD PANTRY—Trinity’s food pantry is in need of non-perishable items such as laundry detergent and hygiene supplies. These items help us care for more than a dozen families in need in the community throughout the week. Donations can be made weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays and Mondays before worship time.

FEED THOSE IN NEED-Trinity provides meals/casseroles for Family of God in Detroit on the second Wednesday of each month. Volunteers are needed to donate a dish. Cash donations are also accepted at the Church Office or via Venmo to Cathy Essig (@CLEssig). Family of God serves meals to over 100 people in Detroit 6 days a week. GOLF OUTING—The first Spartan Golf Classic (benefiting Trinity’s Athletic program) is Saturday, Aug. 23 at Hickory Hollow Golf Club in Macomb. The format is a four-person scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $500 for a foursome and $125 per individual golfer. Buy the Spartan Package for $25 to get plenty of extras. SUMMER MOVIE SERIES AT TRINITY UTICA—Trinity Utica hosts summer movie nights on Wednesdays throughout the summer. All movie nights are held in the Fellowship Hall with a light dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the movie beginning at 7 p.m.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT CAMP ARCADIA—Interested in serving God by serving others on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan? Camp Arcadia is seeking individuals aged 16+ to serve on our End of Season Staff. Trinity has generic envelopes that you can use at the end of each pew, and in the baskets at each entrance.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING HELP—It may feel early, but we’re already planning ahead for Christmas! Decorating the church for the season is a big task that takes many hands, and we need your help. Sign-ups are open this July for anyone willing to lend a hand in December. Whether you’re great with lights, trees, or just bringing joy to the process, we’d love to have you on the team!
