What’s Happening at Trinity—July 31, 2022

FALL KICK OFF WEEKEND—On Sunday, Sept. 11, we will officially launch our new school year and fall activities. It all starts with the commissioning of Grade Adams as a teacher and the installation of Elizabeth Parrish as the Campus Director of Children and Family Ministry at the 9 a.m. worship service. There will be a reception in the foyer following the early service.

JEREMY ASHLEY ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION—On Sunday, Sept 18, Trinity hosts the ordination and installation of Pastor Elect Jeremy Ashley. That Sunday, we will have ONE SERVICE ONLY at 10 a.m. (Saturday evening worship will be available at 5 p.m.) Following the ordination and installation, there will be a celebration in the Community Center. Information to follow. 

ANNUAL MEETING—Trinity’s Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23 in the Community Center and via livestream. Members will receive information on voting topics and the proposed budget before the meeting.

WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?—Whether you are interested in exploring membership at Trinity or interested in finding out more about Christianity, this 10-week class is for you. We will explore Christ’s gracious invitation of a personal relationship with God and the Spirit-filled life of following Christ as his disciple. Life with Jesus is for anyone who would like to attend, and is required of those considering membership at Trinity (but does not obligate you to become a member.) Life with Jesus will be held on Mondays, 7-8:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 12, in the Community Center. Childcare is available. Online sign up begins Aug. 1 at Trinityct.org/LWJ.

CURRENT SERMON SERIES—We continue to focus on Living the Faith. Join us as we use the gospel of Luke, and various readings from the Old Testament, to consider what it means to “live our faith.”

CHILDREN’S CHURCH CONTINUES—Children’s Church occurs during the 11 a.m. service, kids ages 4-8 meet in the Church Lounge during the sermon for a special message designed for them. Each week, we have a relevant hand-out. Download it for discussion topics and a weekly challenge. Find the hand outs and volunteer sign up at

SAVE THE DATE—E3 returns Wednesday, Sept. 14. Free food is available at 6 p.m. followed by our group meetings at 6:30 p.m. Stay tuned for the topics, but there will be something for everyone!

PARENTS OF RISING 6th, 7th AND 8th GRADERS—You should have received letters and emails regarding confirmation for next year. Sixth graders will begin the process in the fall. Seventh graders received information about Camp Concordia and eighth graders got information on Camp Arcadia. If you did not see an email or letter, contact the Church office at 586-463-2921.

SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUESTS—We have an online form for submitting those requests. Go to Trinityct.org and click Submit a Prayer Request toward the bottom of the page. Complete the form and it will be sent to the appropriate prayer warriors.

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY-- Meet to enjoy God's Word every Tuesday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. Led by Mary Hartman and Lila Tirsell. Meets in the Church Lounge.

>ENGAGE GOD’S PEOPLE

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS—On Sunday, Aug. 28 at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services, students from all grade levels are invited to bring their backpacks for a special blessing before the start of the school year. In addition, we are asking our Trinity families to collect school supplies that day. We will give them to our mission partner, HARP, which services the poor and needy in the Appalachian region. FOG NEEDS REGULAR VOLUNTEERS—Family of God in Detroit is building a team of people from supporting congregations to help out one day a week. These volunteers are on-site to help with interacting with people, serving food when needed, packaging food for distribution, organizing the kitchen and closets and serving various other needs. Volunteers are needed 2:30-5 p.m. on Sundays and 4:30-7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Family of God is can help with fuel costs. MEIJER SIMPLY GIVE—Trinity’s Food Pantry is getting a helping hand for a second time this year through the Meijer Simply Give program. From July 3-Oct. 1, purchase the specially-marked Simply Give donations cards from the check-out lines at the store on Groesbeck. Or pick one up at the Welcome Center and take it to Meijer to have it counted in our total. Those gift cards will be given to Trinity’s Food Pantry to help us purchase food and other eligible items. Meijer will match the gifts donated to Trinity. Trinity’s Double Days are Saturday, Aug. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 10. On those days, Meijer doubles their donation. CALLING ALL COOKS AND FOODIES Trinity provides meals/casseroles for our mission, Family of God in Detroit, on the second Wednesday of every month and we need volunteers to provide a casserole/meal once a month. Family of God serves meals to about 100 people in the local Detroit community 6 days a week. If you are able to help please call Karen Langreet to be added to the list! RETIREMENT CELEBRATION– The Early Childhood Center will honor Tammy Mancina (22 years) and Carmen Marx (16 years) for their service to Trinity as they embark upon retirement. Join us at the 9 a.m. service as we thank them for their dedication to our students. A reception will follow between services in the church foyer.

PRESCHOOL OPENINGS-- Trinity's Early Childhood Center has openings in the traditional half-day three and four-year-old preschool program and in the FREE Great Start Readiness Program for this fall.
