SERMON —Free to Love–This week's readings come from Revelations 14:6-7, Romans 3:19-28 and Matthew 22:34-46.
NEW SERMON SERIES BEGINS NEXT WEEK–Money Matters–We go to school to prepare ourselves to earn it. Then we spend much of our lives deciding how to make it, save it, spend it, invest it, and give it away. We worry that we won’t have enough, dream about what we could do with more, and sometimes discover just how much power it can have over our relationships, decisions, and peace of mind. Its absence can create tremendous hardship, while its presence can accomplish enormous good. It touches almost every part of our lives—which means we cannot afford to ignore what it is doing in our hearts. Wouldn’t you agree, Money matters?! Over four weeks, our Fall Stewardship series will explore 2 Corinthians 8–9, the Apostle Paul’s most extensive teaching on Christian generosity. Beginning with the grace God has shown through the faithful witness of generations before us, we will take a decidedly practical look at earning, saving, investing, and giving—and ask what it means to handle money faithfully as disciples of Jesus.
