What’s Happening at Trinity—Oct. 29, 2023

ALL SAINTS DAY—The weekend of Nov. 4/5, we will remember, and give thanks to God, for our loved ones who have died in faith and are in heaven as part of the Church Triumphant! If you have a loved that died in faith in the past year (Nov. 1, 2022 -Oct. 31, 2023) and you would like their name included in the list of the “Faithful Departed,” please contact the church office at 586-463-2921 or by Monday, Oct. 31. Contact the office even if the funeral service was held at Trinity.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS—Trinity is collecting items for Thanksgiving baskets to distribute to those in need in the community. A list of needed items is available at the Welcome Center. Items can be brought to the Church Office, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you know anyone in need, have them sign up in the Church Office beginning Nov. 1, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Valid Macomb County identification is required.

CONFIRMATION— Today at 11 a.m., 19 of our young people will participate in the Rite of Confirmation. Please pray for this next generation of Christ followers.

VETERANS DAY SERVICE—Trinity marks Veterans Day with a special chapel service on Wednesday, Nov. 8. The time will be announced shortly. Our school students will attend and we also invite the community and especially veterans to come hear the message presented by Pastor Norm Koy. THANKSGIVING WORSHIP—Trinity’s Thanksgiving worship is Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. There will not be worship on Thanksgiving Day.

E3 CONTINUES WITH NEW ADULT STUDY—E3, our Wednesday evening gathering and activities for all ages, continues through the fall! Free pizza is served at 6 p.m. followed by the meet ups at 6:30 p.m. There is something for everyone in the family. Life with Jesus continues to meet , “Fire on the Mountain” for adults, senior and junior high youth groups, preteens, elementary students and a nursery. BETHLEHEM BREAKFAST - The Bethlehem Breakfast returns this year on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9-11 a.m. at the Italian American Cultural Society banquet facility in Clinton Township with the theme "The Peace of Christmas.” Tickets are on sale in the foyer for the first three weeks of November for $25. PRAYER FOR STEPHEN MINISTRY—Continue to lift up our Stephen Minister trainees in your prayers. This week they will have their second session on “Assertiveness: Relating Gently and Firmly,” during which they’ll explore their own experiences with assertiveness, explore how to practice it in many different situations, and recognize how assertiveness is a very Christian way of relating.

BLANKETS NEEDED-If anyone has a new or gently used winter-weight blanket that they don't need, donate them on Sunday, Oct. 29 at the Welcome Center labeled “For Peace Lutheran Church.” Peace is located on East Warren in Detroit. They are collecting blankets for people in their neighborhood.

CAN YOU MAKE A CASSEROLE TO HELP THOSE IN NEED Trinity provides meals/casseroles for Family of God in Detroit on the second Wednesday of every month and we need volunteers to provide a casseroles. FOOD SERVICE HELP WANTED—The Early Childhood Center is looking for a part-time food service staff member. This positions is responsible for portioning and delivering lunch and two snacks daily along with food service utensils to 8 classrooms. This includes measuring, sorting, staying organized, and washing in an automated dishwasher. The position hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.– 12:15 p.m. Full time options available. PRESCHOOL OPENINGS-- Trinity's Early Childhood Center has openings in the traditional half-day three and four-year-old preschool program and in the FREE Great Start Readiness Program for this fall. AUTUMN GOLD IN YOUR YARD? Shredded leaves spread on a garden in the fall are the best way to improve soil health year-round. Our Corner Garden is the L shaped spot at the corner of Farmcrest and Harper. We need at least 50 bags of shredded leaves over the next several weeks. Shred with a lawn mower or shredder into kraft lawn bags or sturdy plastic bags and drop them off inside the L on the lawn. Sorry, we can't pick up, but we do the spreading.
