This fall, Trinity Lutheran Church focused on the Red Letter Challenge and the various components that make up the concept. Our E3 groups dove into the Red Letter Challenge as well, with midweek activities, devotions and more, geared for all ages. The Red Letter Challenge focuses on the ideas of Being (with Jesus), Forgiving (both receiving and giving), Serving (follow Jesus' example), Giving (generosity), Going (share your faith with others). The students in the elementary and preteen E3 groups lived out the idea of serving when they made food and served it to the members of the youth group.
"Throughout our time with the Red Letter Challenge, the E3 students had been learning about loving their neighbor. We had them put it into practice by making food and serving it to the youth group," said Elizabeth Szwarc, campus director of children and family ministries.
Led by their E3 instructors, the students did the work to make a trail mix, tortilla roll-up sandwiches and fruit salad. Then, they took it to the Youth Lounge to serve it to the students in that group.
E3 is Trinity’s Wednesday evening programming for all-ages. Class topics vary throughout the year, but there is something for everyone, from adult Bible studies, youth group, preteens, elementary school and a nursery for the youngest attendees. Classes begin at 6:30 p.m. Join us before the classes for dinner, beginning at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The entire evening is free for all attendees.
