Sarah Parrish may call Costa Rica home, but her life is about far more than palm trees and ocean views. In the heart of the country, she serves with Mission of Christ Network, partnering with LightHouse Transformation Ministries to bring the hope of Jesus to the community. Through hands-on outreach, intentional discipleship, and authentic relationship-building, Parrish walks alongside others to share Christ’s love in everyday life. For the past two years, Trinity has helped support her mission work in Costa Rica. Now, she’s announced she will stay in Costa Rica for a third year and this weekend, she plans to share more about her mission work between services and provide opportunities for others to help her on her journey.
“Trinity played such an important role in helping me first get to the field, and I remain deeply grateful for your prayers and support over the years. Your partnership helped lay the foundation for this ministry, and the impact of your generosity continues to ripple through the work being done in Costa Rica,” said Parrish.
While in Costa Rica, Parrish has been part of several events to engage with the community. She and her coworkers have hosted board game nights at their house, to interact with local children as well as their family members. Her team works with the local high school, assisting with English classes, lunch activities, clubs and building relationships. The English department at the high school even asked for the team’s help at the annual English Festival, which consisted of celebration of the English language with activities, poetry, skits, puppet shows, singing and even a spelling bee.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to encourage students as they showcased their hard work, excite them about their English studies, and spend quality time with attendees. It also provided a great chance to continue strengthening our relationships with the English teachers that we interact with on a daily basis,” said Parrish.
The team has also painted a mural at a local park, gotten involved with other school events and helped out with childcare for a local young moms group.
Parrish originally moved to Costa Rica for a two-year internship program with LightHouse, now she plans to extend her time in Costa Rica. In order to do that, she seeks both prayer and financial support.
“Your prayers sustain me and those I serve, and your financial gifts make it possible for this mission work in Costa Rica to continue reaching hearts with the Gospel,” Parrish said.
