While Trinity students have the ability to pray together, worship and deepen their faith in the classroom, students from across the world don't have that ability. On Wednesday, Sept. 24, students from around the world gathered around the flag pole to pray, including Trinity students, parents and staff members. Rain may have forced the event indoors, the long-standing tradition continued with the special chapel service in the sanctuary.
See You at the Pole is a globally recognized day of student prayer. The See You at the Pole campaign began as a grass roots movement started by ten students in Texas in 1990. It's grown from less than a dozen students to millions of students around the world. The student-led initiative encourages prayer in places where it otherwise may not happen.
Trinity students pray throughout the day, however, the school annually marks this day. In most year, students gather outside of the school at the flag pole on Harper to pray, sing and worship. Last year, Trinity joined with nine other local schools for a special See You at the Pole Worship at Jimmy John's Field in Utica.
This year was no different, but, due to rain, the event was moved indoors. Students prayed for their friends, family, teachers, school and nation. The honor the flag with the Pledge of Allegience and are reminded that their Lutheran education affords them the right to pray whenever they want, even in the classroom.
