For the Serving week of the Red Letter Challenge, participants are serving by helping Trinity's kindergarten class with its annual Thankfulness Drive to benefit Macomb Foster Closet.
The Red Letter Challange's serving week looks at how Christians live out God's love for them. The book says, "The entire motivation behind the Red Letter Challenge stems from the fact that God loved me first and I am so overwhelmed by His life that I want to do something about it." Trinity is "doing something about it" by adopting the kindergartners holiday activity benefitting the Macomb Foster Closet.
The Macomb Foster Closet is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization providing clothing and other essential items free to children in foster care and the families that care for them. In addition, the Macomb Foster Closet also provide additional services throughout the year such as loaded school backpacks, birthday bags, Easter baskets, and holiday gifts. Each year, Mrs. Gastmeier organizes a drive for the Macomb Foster Closet so students from Trinity can have a positive impact in their own community.
A box is located in the foyer for members to place donations for the Macomb Foster Closet. This includes diapers (including bigger toddler sizes), new socks, underwear, pajamas and hygiene items. The items donated by the church members will be combined with those from the school families and taken to the Macomb Foster Closet. Monetary donations are also accepted and can be dropped off in the church or school office.
