On Wednesday, Sept. 25, Trinity's 225 students plus staff and chaperones joined with students from nine other local Lutheran schools for Rejoice Together, a special chapel service held at Jimmy John's Field.
What would have been the day Trinity marked See You at the Pole day, inside they took a trip to Jimmy John's Field to participate in a large service with members from Immanuel, St. Peter Macomb, St. Peter Eastpointe, Peace Shelby, Our Shepherd Birmingham, Trinity Utica, St. Peter Richmond, St. John Rochster and St. John Fraser. In total, there were more than 2,400 people present for the event.
The crowd took part in pre-chapel activities, including a rock-paper-scissor base run, the pastors raced the students (don't worry, Pastor Gary raced kindergarteners and had a head start!), and there was lots of singing thanks to Christian singer and songwriter Jennie Williamson of AriSon Records. Before things really kicked off, each school sent their most senior teacher to introduce their groups. Cheryl Chuhran introduced Trinity and led them in a cheer of "GRIT, GRIT, GRIT." Each school selected an eighth grader to read a portion of a prayer. Trinity was represented by Lydia F. Andrew Brazeal, youth ministry associate at Trinity Utica, presented a message as did Travis Grulke, superindentent of the Michigan District Lutheran Schools.
Trinity livestreamed the service, which can be viewed from our Facebook page. Trinity Utica also presented a recap video, which is below.
