Trinity's Early Childhood Center had a busy spring, and there are still many activities ahead before summer break. Here are a few of the things they've been up to this year.
First up is a sweet morning--it's Dads and Donuts! The childcare children have donuts in their classroom with their dads. Dads get to see the classroom and have a tasty treat before heading on their way.
The students brought their dads to school for dads night. This annual event is an opportunity for dads to get one-on-one time and a little fun with their preschoolers. They have a picnic dinner in the gym with hot dogs, chips and lemonade. Afterward, they clean up the blankets and have time playing in the gym. There are basketballs, hoola-hoops, scooters, bowling and lots of activities for the kids and dads to take part in. As the evening draws to a close, the teachers separate the kids by classroom and the teacher reads them several books before they head home.
Speaking of reading, March was Reading Month. Each classroom participated in hallway decorating with projects about books by author Denise Fleming. There was a display about the book, "Shout! Shout it Out!" Another featured a large finger-painted tree and was based on the book, "Buster." One class created a barnyard, with lots of animals, from the book, "Barnyard Banter." Finally, there was a classroom that focused on "In the Tall, Tall Grass," and created all sorts of insects using foot prints.
Each classroom also had guest readers throughout the month of March. Each guest brought along a book or two to read to the class. The students heard from Assistant Director Katie Bielman and Andrea Gastmeier, Trinity's kindergarten teacher.
The year is winding down, but there are still plenty of activities coming up and we'll make sure to share them with you.
