Families and friends visit student math displays

April 25, 2025

Each year, Trinity hosts a knowledge fair as a way for students to demonstrate what they have learned this year, but also to develop skills to put together a large-scale project with visual aids, written elements and a presentation. This year, the knowledge fair was centered around Math. Each grade had specific guilelines based on their math level, with some projects developed as a class and others built by the student with some teacher assistance.

The kindergarten through fourth grade students displayed their math fair findings in their classrooms. Kindergarten focused on numbers and counting, first graders worked in groups to design games that compared two-digit numbers. In second grade, the Happy Campers took their guests on a camping adventure, complete with tents and campfire stories. In Mrs. Huff's third grade class, the students learned about money through interactive Chick-fil-A displays. Each students in third grade had a display at their desk. Fourth grade students shared a little bit about themselves using math equations.

For the upper grades, students were in the cafeteria and the gym. Fifth graders worked with recipes, and multiplying the amounts for more servings. Many of them also brought in a sample of their food and shared it with their projects in the cafeteria. Sixth graders were in the gym with their projects about Mathville, including finding area and volume of buildings of different shapes. Seventh and eighth graders were assigned a project that also dealt with money. They had to budget their use of $1 million.  Advanced math classes had unique twists on their projects as well.

The hallways were filled with parents, families and friends who came to see the math projects, but also the art work. Mrs. Laskowski and Mrs. Moore displayed several art projects the students have completed this year.

It was an educational evening learning more and celebrating the success of Trinity's students.
