Trinity's Memorial Trust Fund has previously supported projects such as helping MCREST purchase a building to house homeless, aiding in the Hope for Haiti Mission, sending staff members to an All Professional Church Workers conference and recently, it has funded the translation and printing of several important books into Haitian Creole and also Spanish. The Lutheran Heritage Foundation said without support like this grant, the world they do to bring the word of God to non-English speaking countries would be stunted.
Several weeks ago, Pastor Gary Richard delivered a $10,000 check to the Lutheran Heritage Foundation. The money funds the translation of Haitian Creole "Small Catechism with Explaination."
"We're really excited about that, as our previous translation was of the 1943 Catechism, and this new one will be of the 2017 Catechism," said Anna Irwin, public relations assistant for the Lutheran Heritage Foundation.
While Pastor Gary was visiting the Lutheran Heritage Foundation to deliver the check, the Spanish translations that were supported by Trinity were delivered. Irwin said these included copies of "A Children's Garden of Bible Stories." A 2023 Memorial Trust Fund Grant of $5,000 was able to cover the $4.50 per copy printing cost, which amounted to more than 1,000 copies of the book.
"We've had a long waiting list for these books, so they'll very soon be in the hands of Spanish-speaking believers in the US as well as throughout Latin America," said Irwin.
All of the books distributed by the Lutheran Heritage Foundation are used to share the gospel with immigrants in the US, as well as by missionaries and churches around the world.
