What’s Happening at Trinity—Aug. 25, 2024

GET YOUR BAKED GOODS—Today at both services, Trinity’s Wellspring group hosts a cookie sale. Grab some baked goods and support the mission of Wellspring.

PARENTS OF RISING 6th GRADERS—You begin the process of confirmation in the fall. You should have received information about the confirmation process at Trinity and how to register for modules. A meeting is scheduled for TODAY at 10:15 a.m. in the Youth Lounge. This program is set up in a series of modules your student and you attend over the course of three years before confirmation.

TOMORROW IS THE LAST MONDAY WORSHIP—Monday, Aug. 26 is our last Monday evening worship. After Labor Day, we offer Saturday worship at 5 p.m.

RED LETTER CHALLENGE—Trinity soon dives into the community-focused, interactive, practical Red Letter Challange. It's a 40-day deep-dive into living out the words and teachings of Jesus. The Red Letter Challenge has daily activities, reflections and readings focusing on Being (with Jesus), Forgiving (both receiving and giving), Serving (follow Jesus' example), Giving (generosity), Going (share your faith with others). Beginning Sept. 15, our sermons, E3 groups and more will center on the Red Letter Challenge.

BLOOD DRIVE SEPT. 5—Trinity hosts an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 1-7 p.m. in the Community Center. Sign up at RedCrossBlood.org and use code TrinityCT.

SUMMER SERMON SERIES—This summer, our sermon theme focuses on Summer in the Spirit. Join us as we see the Holy Spirit at work through the Bible and also through us.

LIFE WITH JESUS CLASS FORMING FOR FALL—Life with Jesus is open to anyone, and is required of those considering membership at Trinity. Life with Jesus is scheduled for Thursdays beginning Sept. 19 in the Church Lounge. The staffed nursery is available for those who need it. Online sign up is available at Trinityct.org/LWJ. 8TH GRADE CONFIRMATION CAMP—Part of the journey to confirmation includes a camp during the 8th grade school year. This year, we are excited to be heading to Camp Arcadia for a fun weekend full of learning more about Jesus. The camp is on Oct.18-20. The cost will be $75 per student. This includes transportation, lodging, activities, and food. Registration is required by Aug. 28 and payment is due by Sept. 22. WEEKDAY BIBLE STUDIES AND CLASSES

NEW MONDAY NIGHT WOMENS BIBLE STUDY—begins Monday Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Church Lounge. It is a 10-week study, "God of Covenant” by Jen Wilkin, a study of the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. GRIEF SHARE GROUP STARTS SEPT. 3—GriefShare is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, participants discover what to expect and what’s “normal” in grief. The group discusses ways of coping with the unpredictability of grief. A new Grief Share group starts at Trinity on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and runs 13 weeks. The class meets from 6-8 p.m. Register at www.griefshare.org/groups/244888. SEPT. 15 COFFEE HOUR—Trinity’s 8th grade class would like to say thank you for your support over the last nine years. The class will be hosting the coffee hour on Sept. 15 between services. Please stop by for a cup of coffee and a free treat, along with a personal thank you from the class you have so generously supported.

SUPPORT LUTHERAN SPECIAL ED—Lutheran Special Education Ministries (LSEM) is having its 19th Annual Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 16. FAMILY OF GOD DINNERS—Trinity provides meals/casseroles to Family of God in Detroit once a month. Volunteers are needed to donate a dish. If you’d like to contribute financially, leave a donation in the Church Office or Venmo Cathy Essig (@CLEssig). To schedule a dish donation, call Karen Langreet at 586-445-2460.

MEIJER SIMPLY GIVE EXTENDED—Trinity is now in Meijer’s fall Simply Give campaign. From now until Sept. 24, pick up one of the Simply Give cards at the register at the Meijer on Groesbeck. Scan them when you pay. They can be purchased in $10 increments. For every card purchased, Meijer donates $10, meaning $10 earns Trinity $20. Trinity’s next double match day is Saturday, Sept. 14. For every $10 card purchased, Meijer contributes $20, bringing the total to $30 for the pantry. For information, call 586-463-2921.

SCHOOL STARTS AUG. 26—The school year begins Monday, Aug. 26 at 8 a.m. Opening chapel starts at 8:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Please pray for our school as we start the new year.

PRESCHOOL OPENINGS-- Trinity's Early Childhood Center has openings in the traditional half-day three and four-year-old preschool program and in the FREE Great Start Readiness Program for this fall. COMPASSION PREGNANCY HOSTS CONFERENCE—Compassion Pregnancy Center hosts “Contenders: Making the Case for Life” for everyone who wants to be better equipped to make the scientific, moral, and biblical case for life with reasoning and evidence. Learn to respond to hard-case arguments about rape, incest, and threats to the life of the mother and much more. The conference is Thursday, Aug. 22 from 6-9 p.m. at The Woods Church in Warren. LFA HOSTS CORN ROAST—The Lutheran Fraternities of America #57, has a harvest corn roast for $10 per person on Monday, Aug. 26 at 5:30– 7 p.m. in Roseville. Hot dogs, coleslaw, Twinkies and beer, wine and pop will also be served. Money will be collected for the Fort Wayne Seminary Food Bank at this event. There will also be a Cornhole Competition at 6:30pm. The event is located at 16140 Aurora in Eastpointe.

CHALK OUR WALK—Help us welcome back our students! Next Sunday, Aug. 25, (weather permitting) find the chalk outside the main school entrance and color the sidewalk! Write welcome back messages and draw happy pictures and make the entryway bright!
