What’s Happening at Trinity—Dec. 14, 2025

ADVENT RESOURCE THE KING IS COMING—A limited run of the Advent resource book, “The King is Coming,” is available at the Welcome Center. Also, if you have enjoyed using the book, consider a free-will donation at the Welcome Center or online at Trinityct.org/Advent. The funds donated help us offset the printing costs and also prepare for future resources and tools.

ALL-WEEKEND BAKE SALE (AND SO MUCH MORE) FUNDRAISER—The Women’s League fundraiser bake sale continues on Sunday, Dec. 14 until the goods are sold out. Whatever remains from the Saturday sale is available for purchase in the Commons. And remember, the plates of Christmas cookies can be frozen until they’re needed to serve guests or given as hostess gifts. All proceeds are used to support missions and local nonprofits.

WORSHIP NOTES—The Proclamation of His Coming—When John the Baptist’s disciples come to Jesus with a simple question—“Are You the One who is to come?”—Jesus answers with a proclamation not just in words, but in deeds. The blind see, the lame walk, the poor hear good news. This week, we’ll explore how Jesus’ response reveals the true nature of the coming King and how His works still proclaim His presence among us today. In a world hungry for certainty and hope, the gospel announces again: the King has come, and His kingdom is already breaking in. The readings for this week are Isaiah 40:-8-11, 1 Corinthians 4:1-6, and Matthew 11:2-11.

MONDAY NIGHT LADIES BIBLE STUDY—Ladies Bible Study meets on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Lounge and currently focusing on the study, “Behold the Savior,” by the Lifeway Women. All ladies welcome. For information contact Bonnie Young at 586-350-3222.

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY—Meet to enjoy God's Word every Tuesday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. Led by Mary Hartman and Lila Tirsell. Meets in the Church Lounge.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY continues on Wednesdays from 6-7 a.m. in the Church Lounge. “Questions Jesus Asks” focuses on specific questions Jesus asked in the Gospels and still asks us today. Come join over twenty Christian brothers for Bible study, conversation, and spiritual growth. Study guides and coffee provided.

COFFEE HOUR NEEDS--The Hospitality Committee is looking for Donut Donators for the Coffee Hour counter for December. Slots are available for parent volunteer hours as snack sorters and counter cleaners during Coffee Hour on Sunday mornings. WOMEN’S LEAGUE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION MEETING, The Women’s League Christmas meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Church Lounge. Always a joyous get-together as we celebrate Christ’s birth with a snack, singing, and other festivities. KINDRED SPIRITS MEETS DEC. 19—Trinity’s widows group, Kindred Spirits, meets on Friday, Dec. 19 at noon in the Church Lounge. For more information, contact call the Church Office at 586-463-2921.

GIVING TREE—Trinity has a Giving Tree in the Commons area of the church. These are items are being collected and given to teens who participate in the Mount Clemens Community Center afterschool program. Donated gifts can be left under the tree or with the Church Office.

COMPASSION PREGNANCY CENTER HAS MOVED—The organization is now at 31900 Utica Rd., in Fraser. A grand opening event is scheduled for lake January 2026. Look for an announcement soon.

FAMILY OF GOD DINNERS—Trinity provides meals to Family of God in Detroit on the second Wednesday of each month. Volunteers are needed to donate a dish. If you’d like to contribute financially, leave a donation in the Church Office or Venmo Cathy Essig (@CLEssig). To schedule a dish donation, call Karen Langreet at 586-445-2460.

OTHER WAYS TO SERVE--Several organizations in our community are looking for help during the holidays. Salvation Army in Mount Clemens is looking for help to serve meals to their clients Dec. 23 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Contact Korienna Cox at 586-469-6712, Ext 843, or email korienna.cox@usc.salvationarmy.org. SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM—The school students present their Christmas program on Wednesday, Dec. 17. The program is at 6:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed. A dress rehearsal is held at10 a.m. for those who prefer to watch it earlier in the day in a less crowded environment.

SCHOOL DINNER DANCE—The 8th grade hosts its annual Dinner Dance Fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 at the Italian American Cultural Society to support the class's spring trip to New York City. YEAR END GIVING—As we approach the end of the 2025 year gift giving, this is the time many of the congregation evaluate their ability to make special donations of stock or cash gifting. If you are 70 ½ or older you can give from your IRAs Tax-Free to the charities of your choice. This is accomplished via making a QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION (QCD). You don’t have to wait for the end of the year, but this option is available throughout the year. Contact your financial advisor to find out if this would be a good option for you. A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution from your individual retirement account (IRA) to a qualified charity. To make a QCD you must be age 70 1/2 or older. A QCD is not taxed, nor included in your taxable income. At age 73 when your IRA requires minimum distribution (RMD) the qualified charitable distribution can be a portion. An itemized tax return is not required. Speak to your tax advisor.

CHRISTMAS TREES—Trinity Scout Troop 157 is selling fresh Christmas trees at Stahl's Market starting Friday, Nov. 28 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Lot hours are Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Thursday-Friday 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday are by appointment only. More information call Geri at 586-663-8821.

CHRISTMAS TREE TAKE DOWN—We had plenty of people help set up Trinity’s Christmas trees and place decorations, but now we need a team of people to help pack it away in January. Take down begins at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Volunteer hours are available. For more information or to sign up, contact Tina Prosch at

USHERS NEEDED—The Trinity Usher Team is seeking church members to serve as ushers for all services. The 9 a.m. service has a serious need for team members as well as an additional Head Usher. For more information, please call or text Glenn Pollard at 586-463-2132.

LAST WEEK FOR CHRISTMAS FOOD BASKETS DONATIONS—Trinity is building 100 food baskets for needy families in the community. If you are able to donate food, a list of needed items is available at the Welcome Center. We appreciate your continued generosity.
