What’s Happening at Trinity—May 26, 2024

MEIJER SIMPLY GIVE IS BACK!—Trinity’s Food Pantry is getting a helping hand from Meijer! Now through June, purchase the specially-marked Simply Give donations cards from the check-out lines at the store on Groesbeck and those gift cards will be given to Trinity’s Food Pantry to help us purchase food and other eligible items. Meijer matches the gifts donated to Trinity. Trinity’s Double Day is Saturday, June 15. On that day, for every $10 Simply Give card purchased, Meijer contributes $20, bringing the total to $30. ALTAR GUILD MEETING—Have you ever considered joining the altar guild? Now is the time! One of the group’s quarterly meetings is Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. in Meeting Room 4. Come learn about how the altar guild supports the church each week and how you can help! For more information, contact the Church Office at 586-463-2921.

BLOOD DRIVE THIS WEEK—Trinity hosts an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, June 6 from 1-7 p.m. in the Community Center. Trinity’s drives have been vital to the Red Cross. To sign up, go to RedCrossBlood.org and use code TrinityCT.

HARP- STUFF THE TRUCK is June 1 and 2. If you are doing some spring cleaning, consider how your used items might help our team traveling with the HARP mission to Caldwell, Ohio June 9-14 to serve the needy. Please bring your items to the TRINITY parking lot on Saturday, June 1 between 2-5 p.m. or Sunday, June 2 between 9-1 p.m. If you have questions contact Karen Merriman at 586-770-9482. PRAYER CARDS AVAILABLE—Lord, Hear Our Prayer- As a redeemed child of God, through Christ, we have the privilege of coming to our Heavenly Father in prayer. As a congregation we often seek to do this, united, as one voice, joined in thought and purpose, seeking the will of our Heavenly Father. Join us daily over the coming weeks ahead in united prayer for our church, our community, and our call process for a new Senior Pastor. A list of daily prayers, written by members of Trinity, is available at the Welcome Center. Pick one up and consider making these prayers part of your daily routine, and join us as we seek God’s will and continue in pursuit of being fully devoted followers of Jesus. SUMMER READING CHALLENGE—CPH Reads is a summer reading program that challenges participants to read books about Jesus and find hope in God’s Word. All ages are invited to participate in the program, which starts May 31 and concludes on Aug. 9, and all who complete the challenge are eligible for a chance to win prizes! DANIEL G. EVOLA MEMORIAL GOLF EVENT—The family of Daniel Evola, late husband of Trinity's K-4 Spanish teacher, Julia Evola and father to Emmy (1st) and Lily (Pre-K 3) invite you to participate in their 2nd annual Daniel G. Evola Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament. The tournament is Saturday, Sept. 7 at Oak Ridge Golf Course. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Trinity Lutheran School, The Macomb ISD Education Project for Homeless Children & Youth, and an education fund for Emmy and Lily. WELLSPRING BABY SHOWER—Wellspring Chapter 6 Auxiliary meeting is May 28 beginning at noon in the Church Lounge. This is a Baby Shower for the Luke Clinic, donations of Newborn infant supplies will be collected. Bring a sandwich and drink, Salad and desert will be provided. All are welcome to come and hear Penny Arbruster speak about the Luke Clinic and the work they do. 

MISSION TRIP—Our HARP team travels to Caldwell, Ohio June 9-14. We are blessed to have a great team going again this year but are always interested in adding more to our crew. FAMILY OF GOD DINNERS-Trinity provides meals/casseroles for Family of God in Detroit once a month. Volunteers are needed to help donate a dish. If you’d like to contribute financially, leave your donation in the Church Office or Venmo Cathy Essig (@CLEssig). IT’S TIME TO THINK ABOUT PRESCHOOL—Trinity's Early Childhood Center is enrolling for the traditional half-day three and four-year-old preschool program and in the FREE Great Start Readiness Program for this fall. Find out more at Trinity’s website at Trinityct.org/ECC.

CAMP COUNSELORS NEEDED—Summer Camp Counselors work in pairs with up to 20 children and a volunteer counselor assistant to lead kids through their days. LHN GOLF OUTING-The 43rd annual Mustang Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cracklewood Golf Club. The cost is $120 per golfer, including 18 holes of scramble golf with cart, unlimited refreshments on the course, lunch, steak dinner, contests, Dr. Kipp trophy for the lowest team school, Christian fellowship and fun. LHN SPORTS CAMPS AVAILABLE—Lutheran North offers summer sports camps. Camps are $80, except for speed and strength training, which is $150. Sign up for multiple camps for a 10 percent discount.
