What’s Happening at Trinity—Oct. 5, 2025
SUNDAY SCHOOL BEINGS TODAY! Beginning today, Oct. 5, Sunday School is held between services as well for those in kindergarten through 5th grade. Meet Mrs. Burge in the church foyer at 10:15 a.m.
OTHER SUNDAY MORNING ACTIVITIES— A pastor-led adult Bible study is offered every Sunday in the Church Lounge at 10:10 a.m.. It focuses on the scripture used in the service each week Youth Group—A Bible study group for those in 6th-12th grade meets in the Youth Lounge beginning at 10:10 a.m. The nursery is available for infants through preschoolers who need a place to go during these events.
2025 CONFIRMANDS—A confirmation meeting is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 5 from 4-7 p.m. in the Community Center. This prepares the students and their parents for the Rite of Confirmation on Oct. 26. HARP TOY COLLECTION—The HARP team identified a need in Caldwell, Ohio, where we serve the people of Appalachia. This area in southeast Ohio has many families who simply cannot purchase Christmas gifts for their children. During the month of OCTOBER, HARP will have a collection box in the church foyer for NEW or very gently used toys/games. Stuffies/Stuffed animals must be new. We cannot accept clothing or shoes. QUILTS FOR LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF—This weekend, quilts made by Trinity’s quilters are on display in the church foyer. These quilts are some of those that are shipped around the world to those in need. Visit the display to learn more about the mission of Lutheran World Relief and Trinity’s Quilters.

NEW SERMON SERIES—A new sermon series begins next week. The series, titled “Ancient Letters to a Modern Church,” will focus on 2 Timothy, with readings coming from the lectionary. Upcoming readings include:
- † Oct. 5 — 2 Timothy 1:1–14
- † Oct. 12 — 2 Timothy 2:1–13
- † Oct. 19 — 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5
BAPTISM CLASS SCHEDULED—Pastor Jeremy has two upcoming baptism classes schedule. At Trinity, all those hoping to be baptized or have a child baptized must attend a baptism class to discuss the Lutheran understanding of baptism. After the class, baptisms can be scheduled with the church. Two upcoming baptism classes are available for those interested.
† Tuesday, Oct. 28, 3:30 p.m.—This class is primarily designed for school parents. The class is roughly an hour and students will be supervised by teachers during that time so there is no need to find childcare. Meet in the Coffee Oasis.
† Wednesday, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m.—This class will be held during E3. Children can attend youth group, children’s ministry or go to the nursery during that time.

E3 CONTINUES—E3, our Wednesday evening gatherings, continue on Wednesdays. Life with Jesus is available for those who want to become members, but the new format makes it engaging for all adults. The youth group, a children’s program and the nursery are als available. Programming begins at 6:30 p.m. No dinner will be served prior to E3. Enter through the main church doors.

MONDAY NIGHT LADIES BIBLE STUDY meets Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Loung. “God of Deliverance” by Jen Wilkin explores Exodus 1—8, the stories of Moses, and his call to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY—Meet to enjoy God's Word every Tuesday morning 9:30-10:45 a.m. Led by Mary Hartman and Lila Tirsell. Meets in the Church Lounge.
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY—The Wednesday morning men’s Bible study is focusing on the nine-session study covering questions Old Testament characters heard from God, such as when he asked "Where are you?" of Adam and Eve. Through the questions, we are guided inward to reflect on the same questions in our own lives. The men’s Bible study meets Wednesday mornings at 6 a.m. in the Church Lounge. Study materials and coffee provided.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY—Women’s Bible study meets Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. in the Church Lounge. The group is using “Acts: The Spread of the Gospel” by John MacArthur. For more information, contact study leader Linda Gawinski at 586-431-1147.

INTERESTED IN GARDENING—Our team of dedicated gardeners needs help! They tend to the courtyard garden, the garden in front of the building, near the rear entrance and at the corner or Harper and Farmcrest. JOIN THE HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE—Interested in building relationships within the congregation? You can do that through the Hospitality Committee! We host coffee hour each Sunday beginning in October. FEED THOSE IN NEED-Trinity provides meals/casseroles for Family of God in Detroit on the second Wednesday of each month. Volunteers are needed to donate a dish. Cash donations are also accepted at the Church Office or via Venmo to Cathy Essig (@CLEssig). Family of God serves meals to over 100 people in Detroit 6 days a week. SIMPLY GIVE UPDATE—Meijer has allowed Trinity another round of the Simply Give campaign. THE ECC IS HIRING—The ECC is looking for a compassionate and dedicated childcare provider to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a passion for nurturing and teaching children, creating a safe and engaging environment for their growth and development. This role involves caring for children of various ages, from 2 to 14 years old. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (35 hours). DONATIONS FOR THE WAVE PROJECT—The Wave Project is a non-profit organization which provides a mobile shower service to homeless men and women every week, as well as some new and gently used clothing. A school parent is involved with their organization and is collecting new or gently used jeans, hoodies, and winter coats for adults. A collection box will be in the Coffee Oasis for the month of October if you are interested in donating. Adult sizes only please.
PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT—There is still space in the 3-year-old and 4-year-old half-day preschool programs! The 3-year-old preschool program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the 4-year-old preschool programs meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. Both programs run from September to May and include a snack and all supplies! LFA HOSTS OKTOBERFEST—LFA #57 is Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at the LFA hall in Eastpointe.
